Summary

Originally planned to target the Texas panhandle for dryline storms but didn't leave home in time. Picked up a supercell on the Oklahoma border and chased it halfway across Kansas before it finally produced. I had called off the chase 30 minutes before and fell behind, resulting in only distant views of the tornado. Called off the chase at 7:30 Mountain in Great Bend. Had to stop at 3 gas stations to find premium gas and working fuel pumps.

Takeaways

  • Get a vehicle that doesn't require premium gas
  • Leave home earlier to allow time to reassess the situation before initiation
