We got a late start and blasted toward our target of extreme northeast Kansas. By the time we got there a cell had formed northwest of our location and was tornado warned. We decided to hang around closer to Hiawatha, KS because there was a new cell going up nearby. We followed this cell for a while but it looked fairly disorganized and so we broke off to follow the cell to the northwest. It was still tornado warned but no tornadoes had been reported. As we got into position we saw the cell had obviously weakened and the cell we had just left looked like it was getting its act together. The next scan revealed a hook and it was now tornado warned. We followed this cell across an extremely narrow bridge on into Missouri. Lots of rotation and motion but it never produced a tornado. We heard a few pings of hail on the car but managed to stay out of the giant stuff. I'll be getting some images up soon.
